Ride the Wave of July Eclipses and other Cosmic Events

Can you feel it? It’s in the air, well in the heavens to be exact. It’s eclipse season. We just finished with the July 2 new moon solar eclipse in Cancer, and we have a full moon lunar eclipse on July 16 in Capricorn. Plus we have another new moon on July 31, also known as a Black Moon vs. a Blue Moon when two full moons are in the same month. AND Mercury went retrograde July 7 until July 31.
Now just because the new moon solar eclipse is past does not mean it’s over. You can feel an eclipse a month plus five days after the date and even a year after the date, so keep notes on what is going on in your life.
Eclipses are full and new moons on steroids. They make you sit up and take notice as they can create instant change. A little info in case you forgot:
- Solar eclipses are always on a new Moon when the Moon is between the Sun and Earth, hiding the light of the Sun.
- Lunar eclipses are always on a full Moon when the Earth is between the Moon and the Sun, cutting off the reflection of the Sun on the Moon.

New Moons and Solar eclipses tend to mark new beginnings, while full Moons and Lunar eclipses signal endings. So be ready for change and ride the wave or go with the flow – for now.
Eclipses bring about big events or turning points, think marriages, engagements, divorces, births, career moves and even physical moves to a new home or apartment.
Because of an eclipse’s influence on light, expect an eclipse to illuminate the truth on a part of your life that you have been reluctant to look at and/or deal with or to give you new information so you can “see the light.”
Watch for signs or messages that you receive around the time of an eclipse, both before and after. Pay attention to these; listen and examine this information as it can give you clues to what might come your way. Now, just because you have received some information, the time around an eclipse is not a time to make radical changes, wait a few weeks.
Lighten your load during eclipses. You need to be ready to act if an eclipse brings about something that needs your immediate attention. And you might just be a bit more emotional around an eclipse, especially a lunar eclipse.
Some people label eclipses as “bad” but don’t buy into that thinking. An eclipse can shut doors, but it can also open new pathways that suit you better and even bring a bigger pay day.
I like to mark eclipses with ceremony. I smudge or cleanse by burning sage, cedar, palo santo and other incense. I smudge myself, my living quarters, my animals and crystals. I also carry crystals or wear crystal jewelry to help manifest my desires during eclipses. Among other things you can do to mark these events is burn candles in the color of what you would like to manifest. Now to Mercury retrograde; I will touch on this only briefly.
Mercury is in charge of communications and important documents, including contracts. So don’t negotiate contracts until August. Watch your email, and if you have to send something via snail mail or ground, make sure it arrives at its destination. Follow through is key.
With communications comes code – think computer codes and other electronic codes – so that might explain why computers or transportation goes a little wacko during this time.
Buying and selling are also under Mercury’s rule, so don’t make any big purchases during its retrograde period, especially items with moving parts, as little Mercury has purview over these things, too.

In July, Mercury starts retrograde in Leo, a fire sign, and ends in Cancer, a water sign. Her suggestions are: if it falls in a fire sign look to new visions and innovative solutions, and if in a water sign use your intuition. Hmm, big visions with intuitive thinking. Wow!
