My Top 10 Finds at the Tucson Gem Show 2023

Hi, this is Dianne, business owner and world buyer for For Heaven’s Sake Metaphysical Stores. I am fortunate to be able to travel to the Tucson Gem Show, which holds the largest collection of gem dealers in the world. What a pleasure it is to visit with hundreds of them from Brazil, Morocco, Arkansas and Peru whom I’ve cultivated relationships with throughout the years. During a frenzied 30-day period in January-February, I carefully select from the crème of the offerings because I’ve learned which vendors to visit first – in order to get the very best wholesale gemstones at the best prices, so I can pass the savings on to you. Many of these merchants offer me fine specimens and very large rough and finished gemstones, too. With our three store locations, we need to purchase a large variety of new beauties so we can fluff our already full shelves and display cabinets. Browsing often, especially this time of year, will assure that you see one-of-a-kind treasures the moment they make their debut.

I am personally committed to hand-pick all the pieces for all our stores from the Tucson Gem Show. This can be tedious because sometimes I like only 3 pieces out of hundreds I look through. Other times it may be 3 pounds of small, highly charged specimens, chosen one-by-one. I especially love putting rocks in Donna DeNomme's hands and asking her, “How does THIS feel?” I giggle at her responses. Especially the tektites. And even funnier are the hematite gems that SHE says feel like kryptonite to her energy body! I think this may be unique to her as many of our other healers and practitioners love hematite. And recommend it for many purposes. That just proves my honest belief that choosing stones, for any reason, is a very personal experience. You are the ultimate decision-maker when it comes to selecting a new mineral or gemstone. I’d love to have your stop by and see how my newest “friends” speak to you!

Tucson Gem Show 2023

My great finds this year (among many others):

1. BLACK OBSIDIAN MOON SHAPED BLADES AND PENDULUMS from MEXICO Well, who doesn’t LOVE black obsidian for its clearing, protective and grounding properties?! When I found black obsidian in the shape of a moon and in pendulum form, I had never seen this presentation/shape before now. So, I envisioned my clients with a black moon in their hands, altars, energy practices setting solid intentions as a drawing tool for healing and clearing waste energies as well as getting clear guidance with powerful energetic protection.
2. BLACK OBSIDIAN KNIVES from OREGON The blades themselves are from
   
   Mexico, but I found an artist who also paired the knives with antlers forming a knife. Each piece is unique and made with love. Perfect for candle magic and energetic cord cutting and clearing.
3. SELENITE TRIPLE MOON AND STAR BOWLS from MOROCCO – Clearing the light channel, but also in the form of a bowl. Possibly use as an altar piece to draw in the goddess within.
4. THUNDER EGGS from OREGON You would never guess looking at these in their rough form that they have such brilliant crystalline/druzy centers. I picked these in pairs so that you can use to deepen your feng shui practice in drawing in grounded love. Things in pairs always bring balance.
5. PYRITE POINTS from PERU - I found these in chunk form with a flat bottom, but with a solid point. “Always go up” says my feng shui master. Pyrite is grounding in self-confidence and the energy pointing upward opens you to new opportunities, personal growth, and setting energetic boundaries.
6. HAND TWISTED COPPER AND GEMSTONE TREES from UTAH – The
   
   Tree of Life, also “If you want to get to the fruit of the tree, you have to go out on a limb” – I witnessed the artist twist and mold copper wire in a sacred geometric style forming 3 limbs. Hard to explain here. But the fact that he wrapped copper around a crystalline point base fully amplified the energy of the crystal tipped limbs. My suggestion is further amplifying your goals by placing your business card with/or an affirmation of your great success or wish fulfilled.
7. MALACHITE POLISHED BOWLS from AFRICA – I found these displayed with a polished crystal sphere. Malachite has heart energy properties. What else can I place in this bowl and wrap in love? Powerful and heart-warming!
8. CACOXENITE PENDANTS from CANADA – These were SO “gemmy” at the Tucson Gem Show that I literally could not put them down! They look like Super 7, coined by Melody. A combination of amethyst, rutilated gold or silver, quartz, smokey quartz, goethite, lepidocrocite. Stone of ascension. It takes its meaning as it is known for raising vibrations and encouraging spiritual alignment. Elevates every strand of your being. It can put you in the path of beauty and nature, help you to feel more connected to the world and everyone in it, increase your physical health, and assist with problem-solving too. Solar plexus, third eye, crown chakras. Got some?!
9. CLEAR QUARTZ POINTS from ARKANSAS – Arkansas quartz is known for their brilliance as compared to Brazil clear quartz. These are perfect for your reiki practice or in meditation. I hand-picked each of these from the owner of the mine. Her husband passed away from covid last year and this was her first trip out ‘alone’ with the big RV and stock. He was only 64. God Bless them both!
10. SHUNGITE RODS from RUSSIA – Also known as Pharaoh Cylinders, ask Becky Swenson, FHS energy yoga teacher on Sundays at our Applewood location. By special request, these are coming in paired with Talc-chlorite. I am really excited to put a pair of these in her hands and watch/learn about the magic. SHUNGITE has powerful healing qualities. Purifies water. Inhibits EMF’s. Great for putting on your cellphone, computer, microwave. Combats insomnia, stress, anxiety. Boosts energy. Provides a shield of protection. The pair are harmonizing cylinders, used to balance the spirit, mind and body. Removing blocks, opening psychic sensors, and bring in soul awareness to your life’s purpose.
