Embrace the Change!
By Donna DeNomme, MA, RScP
As the seasons change, we have an opportunity to move with dynamic energy shifts in a way which honors the natural cycles, supporting our personal and collective growth. Spring is one of my favorites as it is the time of refreshing renewal; a fertile time for planting seeds of intention; and a delightful time for celebrating new growth. When springtime comes we observe the very earth beneath us “waking up” as green sprouts all around us. Inspiring! Philosopher Rainer Maria Rilke says, “It is spring again. The earth is like a child that knows poems by heart.”
With serious challenges the past couple of years and the recent political crisis in the Ukraine, our collective energy feels heavily burdened. People have been pushed to the max . . .. This is the time to cleanse as much of that heavy, dense energy as you can on a personal level to help nourish and uplift the greater whole:
- Go for walks on warm days, noticing the new growth, and delighting in it
- Get in water. Natural pools or hot springs are best.
- Venture out on a windy day and let the air move over you
Pick up some sage or sweetgrass or smudge in a bottle to help clear your auric field
(the energy around you)
Create a seasoned space to receive understanding and insight. Sit with a journal to explore and contemplate what you might desire for the next quarter. Write your thoughts down in whatever way serves you best – full sentences or just a free-flowing list. You can also draw your intentions! Putting intentions in form is quite powerful.
Include world intentions . . . and then follow those up with personal actions that can create a ripple moving forth. If you would hope to see peace in our world, what ways can you draw in “peace” in your own life? Is there a moment you’d like to lash out and instead you can respond with patience or kindness? How can you be kinder with yourself? “If people did not love one another, I really don’t see what use there would be in having any spring.” (Victor Hugo)
You can begin again this Spring Equinox. Now is your chance to do it better; to do it your way! How might you fine-tune how you show up in the world? In this time of renewal, what can take new shape and form? And what needs to re-emerge? This is a time to return to the land of your soul – the place where your core values and your higher aspirations live – and draw that soul alignment forth. Dedicate time and energy to the pursuits that honor your unique and precious character - show up more fully as your truest self. As you green with new life, know and trust that you’ve got this . . . and that in this time of becoming even your wildest dreams may blossom if you water them!
There is a powerful force moving through all of creation right now. “You can cut all the flowers, but you cannot keep spring from coming.” (Pablo Neruda)
So, welcome Spring by connecting with the natural influences all around you and draw forward renewed vitality as you plant powerful, conscious seeds of intention. Activate those choices with tangible nourishment for happiness and growth.
