Screen Shot 2017-10-30 at 10.41.26 AM

At For Heaven's Sake, we are obsessed with crystals. To be surrounded by them every day, and to have the opportunity to help customers select their crystals, is a blessing. While helping customers, we are often asked if the shapes of the crystals possess meaning, and we're happy to report that they do, and in this Blog post we will answer that question.

Crystals are normally classified into seven basic crystal shapes:

    1. Rounded crystals are ideal for every purpose as it offers endless flow of energies.

    2. Pointed crystals used mainly for directing energies. You can draw positive healing energies towards you by pointing the crystals inwards towards you. Vice versa, you can shield yourself against pain and negativity by pointing the crystals outwards.

    3. Oval shaped crystals attract love and fertility. It also brings abundance and happiness to families and releases or emits healing powers slowly.

    4. Square or Rectangular cut crystals are used to promote stability and support in workplace or at homes; they absorb harm and negative energies. If you are using them for protection, it is a must to cleanse and recharge them regularly.

    5. Wand-Like crystals offers long-term success and prosperity. It is also commonly used to protect against ill-wishers.

    6. Spherical crystals help to energize and purify any room or work space. It also helps to attract prosperity luck, health and joy in your life.

    7. Pyramidal crystals are natural transmitters of healing and psychic powers which not only helps to calm the soul but also brings harmony in your life.

Understanding a crystal's shape is just the first step. If you are interested in learning more, For Heaven's Sake offers a monthly class, Let's Get Stoned, with different guest speakers every month. • What is a Mala?

Mala A beautiful Calming Mala created by Peacock Arts.

Mala’s are a traditional tool used to count the number of times a mantra is recited, breaths while meditating, or the repetitions of a buddha's name.  This practice is known in Sanskrit as japa. Malas are typically made with 18, 27, 54 or 108 beads. In Tibetan Buddhism, malas of 108 beads are used. From our friend Ky Gabriel at Peacock Arts, "It is said that 108 times is the ideal number to take the prayer from a head space into an embodied heart space and when using a Mala there is no need to count, you can let the beads do it for you!"

The increasing popularity of Yoga has made Malas fashionable. With strands of 108 beads plus a "guru" bead traditionally used for meditation and prayer, designers are making mala necklaces now that combine gemstones imbued with potent energies and sacred meaning to infuse your practice. However, most Malas are worn around the wrist. When looking at a Mala, notice the knots in between the beads. These knots represent our thoughts in meditation. The knots stop the beads from touching each other, just like our thoughts should not touch each other. As a "pro" tip, Ky states, "I recommend never buying Malas that aren't hand knotted."

For Heaven’s Sake is teaming up with Ky Gabriel in early January 2018 for a Mala making workshop, where she'll provide insight into the art of Mala making. Come set powerful intentions for your life and create beautiful 108 bead Malas while making new friends. Learn about mantras and how to use them in your japa meditation with your very own healing gemstone Mala that you will create! Includes a short guided meditation. No experience necessary.

To be sure to get the stones and colors you desire, signing up early is required. The class is $65 includes all materials and instruction (price includes standard stones). Ky will contact you with stone options as soon as your order is confirmed. There may be an additional charge for premium stones (available upon request).

Register for the Mala making workshop today - space is limited! You can register online by clicking here or by calling the store: 303.964.9339.

  • Friday the 13th, November 2017

    Friday the 13th, 2017

Is there something to fear on Friday the 13th?

For years people have said Friday the 13th is an unlucky day. Horror movies have been named after this day, that's how prevalent the the belief is, however, astrologically, there’s nothing about Fridays or the 13th of the month that indicate danger or bad luck.

Friday is associated with the planet Venus, which associates the day with pleasant things like love, friendship, art and even a little indulgence. In Angel Numbers, 13 presents the following:

"The ascended masters (such as Jesus, Quan Yin, and so on) are with you, helping you maintain a positive outlook. The number 13 signifies that female ascended masters and goddesses are assisting you in staying positive."

Studies do show that the occurrence of accidents tends to go up on Friday the 13th, but many authorities believe that this is the result of excessive anxiety rather than the day itself. So when Friday the 13th rolls around, if you're feeling anxious, meditate, light incense or commune with your crystals. You can also come by the store and enjoy some company and meet new people who share your interests!

The key take away is: relax.

    Many Blessings~

  • Look for Opportunities and Healing in October

Insights into the month of October from our dear friend Sophie Rose:

October has arrived, and it's time to take care of business during the first two weeks of the month. We'll want to sort things out in our personal and social life and make adjustments or clear up some issues. We will also become more discriminating or analytical in our relationships (Mars and Venus in Virgo).

Since last December, we might have pushed to find a way to manage our need for relationships and our desire for freedom, or find a social setting to express our deepest, most original self. Those of us who weren't successful will now feel the frustration and risk to create conflict by recklessly standing up for their beliefs (last Jupiter-Uranus opposition).

If we've been weighing the pros and cons of a big decision, we'll probably be ready to make it around October 8th and 9th.

Jupiter enters Scorpio on October 10th, where it will stay until November 2018: growth will happen through deep sharing, delving into emotions, exploring taboos, looking into our shadows. This brings also great risks of power abuse and manipulations, while more and more people will become conscious of the necessity to act together on things that really matter. Developing intimacy with one another or joining forces around a passion will bring a lot of expansion and opportunities.

Full Moon: October 5th, 13 Aries

New Moon: October 19th, 27 Libra

Be well, and visit the store to find crystals for healing, visit with staff, and connect with your tribe. Blessings~

  • Signs Your Child Had a Past Life

The concept of reincarnation can be traced back to both Eastern and Western philosophies and has existed for over 3,000 years. Today, only 24% of the adult population believe in reincarnation.

Many children remember their past life spontaneously. Some remember startling personal details of relatives who died before they were born. If this is your child, odds are he/she has lived before.

Here are 5 signs your child had a past life.

    Memories of past events

There are many recorded instances of children who have memories of events that took place decades ago. Since children have vivid imagination, parents often think it’s comical. Often, they’d wonder where they got these stories from since they weren’t born yet when these events happened. But sometimes, children provide details that are so astonishing that they’re hard to dismiss as make-believe. If this sounds like your child, he/she may have had a past life.

    Accidental expertise

Some kids are more talented than the others. Some kids can sing or dance well. But if your child have some special talents, traits or abilities without being trained, it is possible that may have lived a past life.

According to psychologists, advanced kids who exhibit knowledge and expertise may have learned these things in their previous lives and are now applying them in their current lives. An example of which is a child who hops on a bike and ride away without being trained. Or a child who suddenly plays an instrument, but has never took lessons.

    Deja vu

We all experience déjà vu every now and then. It’s the bizarre feeling that we have somehow experienced or lived that particular moment. When you experience déjà vu, you could be experiencing a memory deep within your subconscious that may have stemmed from a past life.

For some children, the details are so vivid that they are convinced they have lived that moment before. This is a common sign that is associated with reincarnation.

    Night terrors and re-occuring dreams

Recurring dreams take many forms. If your child talks experiences recurring dreams that involve a specific location or historical period, he/she may have lived a past life. These dreams may be a re-enactment of a terrible or traumatic experience that they have experienced in another time. These dreams are so vivid, it can be difficult to convince the child that it wasn’t real life. It may be their subconscious mind’s way of revealing a past life.

    An old soul

Does your child love playing with big kids or adults? Do they give flawless advice like the stuff we hear from our elders? Do they give off the vibe that they are “an old soul”? If so, this could be a sign of reincarnation.
