  • Essential Oil Uses and Benefits

A lot of people tend to associate aromatherapy with making the house smell nice or enhancing the spa experience, but aromatherapy does more than that. Aromatherapy is a century-old practice of using essential oils to support overall health and well-being. In fact, it is often utilized as a complementary therapy method.

In an effort to help you get started on aromatherapy, we listed down some of the health benefits associated with it. Here are a few.

    Improve sleep

If you suffer from insomnia or find it difficult to stay asleep at night, you might want to try aromatherapy. Aromatherapy cannot cure insomnia, but inhaling essential oil can encourage sounder sleep. Ylang Ylang and chamomile may help alleviate sleeping problems.

    Manage pain

Some people would find themselves reaching into their medicine cabinet for some aspirin to seek relief from headache, muscle and joint pain. What they fail to realize is that these drugs come with dangerous side effects and can take a toll on your health later on.

Essential oils are great for pain relief. It is also effective at alleviating many of the discomforts associated with major illnesses. Depending on the type of oil and the type of pain, essential oils can be placed in a diffuser, used in massage or applied directly to pressure points. Sandalwood, lavender, chamomile and clary sage are just some examples of essential oils that can induce relaxation and pain relief.

    Stress and anxiety relief

Aromatherapy is a commonly known relaxation technique. Several studies have proven that aromatherapy helps reduce stress. In a 2007 study that was published in the Journal of Clinical Nursing, researchers have found that aromatherapy massage may be a helpful complementary therapy for people with cancer or other chronic diseases. Patients who have undergone aromatherapy showed reduced stress and anxiety levels as compared to those who were not using aromatherapy. And hey, who doesn’t love the smell of a good essential oil during a massage?

Chamomile, lavender and vetiver are known for their calming properties. These essential oils help ease nervousness, apprehension and irritability.

  • Selecting the Right Crystal for You

With so many gems and crystals to choose from, it can be difficult to find the right one for you. Selecting the right crystal is of great importance since getting one that does not match can be constantly draining. Some may even produce a headachy sensation, which is a clear sign that the crystal is not for you.

Upon entering the store, you may find yourself drawn to a particular crystal due to its shape, feel or color. You may not know anything about that particular crystal, but it just called out to you. Once you hold it in your hand, you will feel the connection. Sometimes, you may feel a sense of hot or cold, a vibration or tingling. This can mean that you have been found by the crystal, and it wants to be with you.

If you are unsure if what you are feeling or sensing is real, hold the crystals one at a time and feel it physically and emotionally. Be open to sensations like tingling or change in temperature.  You may feel like they’re talking to you, almost asking you take them home.

Another way to choose a crystal is to look for a crystal for a particular purpose. If you have a specific purpose, then be sure to state it clearly. You can say “I want to connect with a crystal for grounding” or “I want to connect with a crystal for healing”. Rose quartz is a classic stone for anything heart-related. Citrine is for a positive outlook, hematite is for grounding and tiger’s eye is for courage.

As years pass by, you may feel that a crystal you were strongly drawn to doesn’t feel good now. This means that it’s time to pass it on to the next person. Some crystals will stay with you while others should go when the time comes. Which ones are you attracted to?  Start there and then dive into their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual meanings. You will find your answer by listening to your instincts. This is your intuition and it's always right! • 4 Ways to Improve Your Spiritual Health

We live in a diverse world – one that is filled with a number of gods and religions. Because of that, spiritual wellness may mean different things to different people. But in general, spiritual health involves a person’s purpose, beliefs and values.

A lot of people may not understand how important spiritual health is, but its significance is stronger than what most people may realize. In fact, it puts harmony in one’s life and the people around them. A spiritually deficient person, on the other hand, can become isolated, confused and fragile.

Here are some ideas to improve your spiritual health.

    Practice forgiveness

Sometimes, the people we love may hurt us. It’s not always easy to forgive and move on when you’re on the receiving end. But holding on to grudges, resentment and animosity will only poison you with extreme negativity. This causes even more pain because by holding on to grudges; you are actually keeping the wounds wide open. Practice forgiveness and be happier.

    Be quiet

Silence is not only relaxing, calming and therapeutic; it can also help improve your therapeutic health. Set aside a time for solitude, even if it’s just for a few minutes a day. With the chaos and confusion of a frantic lifestyle, it can be difficult to hear the spiritual truths that often come in the form of a still small voice. Take this opportunity to come in contact with your inner thoughts and feelings.

    Take time to meditate

Take time everyday to pray, meditate and be alone, even for just 5 to 10 minutes a day. In addition to stress relief, meditation can help us achieve peace of mind, bring our unruly mind under control and allow us to achieve what we want. Ultimately, it is a great way to maintain good spiritual health.

    Take time for self-renewal

Becoming more in tune with your spiritual side is the key to improving your spiritual health. Take a moment to assess your spiritual health by asking yourself the following questions: Who am I? What is my purpose? What is important to me?

  • How to Incorporate Crystals Into Your Everyday Life

Crystals have always fascinated and benefited mankind. They have long been used throughout history for a variety of purposes. Today, more and more people are open to using healing crystals. In fact, even celebrities like Miranda Kerr and Katy Perry are embracing the benefits of these gems.

If you have found the perfect crystal for you, chances are, you want to make the most out of them.  Here are 4 ways to incorporate crystals into your everyday life.

    Wear as a jewelry

The most common way of wearing crystals is to wear them as a necklace or as a ring. Or you can just slip it in your pouch if you don’t feel like wearing them. This can come in handy whenever you need a boost in confidence or you need some help in calming down. Some crystals can also intensify or amplify your energies.

Healing crystals are often used to help relieve stress and anxiety. Similarly, many people practice yoga in order to get the same benefits. When you use crystals during yoga practice, it allows you to create a closer connection with yourself, your crystal and your yoga practice. Most importantly, it takes you to a deeper level of practice and will help you regain balance.

You can place your crystals on the top edge or at the bottom of the mat. Crystals are pretty. They are sure to make you smile when you see them during plank pose.

    Place it under your pillow

There are certain crystals that can help you sleep better at night and ward off nightmares. Simply place them under your pillow to promote a restful sleep.

    Memory enhancement

Of course, we’re not suggesting that students can ditch their textbooks and lectures as crystals cannot give you a photographic memory. What crystals can do is to give you a boost in concentration and memory, making it easier for you to remember things.

Keep calcite, hematite and pyrite crystals near your upper body during the day and under your pillow at night.

  • The sky in May Astrology Forecast by Sophie Rose

Sophie Rose TheSkyWe begin the month with a major slowing down: it is time to reflect, to go within, to put stuff on hold and to go back to simplicity and nature. We may experience frustrations or delays with some of our projects and our social activities might be on low gear. The best use of this energy is to redefine, reconsider how we participate to the world in a very conscious way, to let go of any psychological or spiritual block that prevented us until now to take an authentic place in the world, it might take us until this summer to do so (5 planets are retrograde - a very rare occurrence, and 3 planets in Taurus).

Mercury has been retrograde since April 17th, asking us to review what we value or maybe reorganize finances or other possessions (look for new insights in the house where you have 15 to 24 Taurus) so we can come up with new plans after May 22nd. Mars will be retrograde until June 29th, so we can take advantage of the next couple months to initiate a new  vision and a new momentum for our projects. Watch what happens around May 22nd in terms of getting a clearer vision on what to do.

    Have a great month!

  • Shifting energies can create new realities – What is next?

Posted by Deanna Gloyd on by

Shifting energies can create new realities and experiences that will both amaze us and heal us.

To gain understanding ask yourself what issues keep showing themselves to you. What occurrences or life circumstances keep coming up over and over.

Is there someone that comes your mind over and over? Is it someone that you have not forgiven? Or someone you have unresolved issues with?

Are you feeling that your current job is somehow not what you thought you would be doing? Is it the position that you hold in your current work place that no longer interest you, or pays you enough?

Are you unhappy or frustrated in your current relationship? Are you feeling like you want to move forward with your relationship, and yet somehow you know it would be better to let go and walk away? Or maybe your partner is not showing you the signs that they want to deepen the relationship?

In any of these circumstances the Universe is asking you why do you hang on? What is keeping you in an endless cycle of disappointment? Why do you feel there is nothing more for you than were you currently are?

The truth is – is that there is always enough. Enough room for you to expand your consciousness and your experiences in this Universe. There is enough positive energy and joy in the universe that is available to everyone ~ right now!

All you have to do is ask for what you desire, and let go of what you have that is currently taking up your time and energy and showing no prospect of fulfilling your dreams.

    New realities await.

The shift is up to you.

    Many Blessings!

P.S. If you need some help and are ready to let go and move forward in your life, you can sign up here for a session or come to Denver on Thursday at For Heaven’s Sake Books in Denver for an in person appointment.

  • How to Quiet Distracting Thoughts During Meditation

Peace and quiet is a precious commodity these days. A quiet mind is what most people are striving for in one way or another. With family, work, economic pressures and technology, it is really magical when our busy minds go quiet.

Meditation can help you become more peaceful, more attentive to things around you, less worried about discomfort and more focused in your tasks. But if you’re just starting out, it can be exasperating when your mind doesn’t cooperate.

Here’s how to quiet your racing thoughts during meditation.

    Concentrate on your breathing

Distracting thoughts are extremely common during meditation. When you mind wanders and you then realize that you’re losing the meditative connection you were trying to build, simply return your focus to your breathing. Breathe through your nose and then breathe out slowly through your mouth.

    Get it all out first

Do your thoughts run something like this? I need to pick up Mike’s dry cleaning this afternoon. Must pay attention. Oh shoot! I forgot to pay the electric bill. Okay, I’ll do that later. Wait, what should I make for dinner?

Before you start, we suggest that you get a pen and paper. List down all the things you need to do so you won’t forget about them. Make sure everything is written there. Now that it’s done, prepare for meditation.

Create a sacred space for meditation

Some people find it beneficial to have a special place for meditation. It does not necessarily have to be a big space. Just as long as it’s a quiet place where you’ll feel comfortable to sit, relax and meditate.

You can place some pillows, a yoga mat or a chair to help you feel more comfortable. Use this space for meditation purposes only. So if you come to this spot, it tells your brain that it’s time for meditation.

    Be easy with yourself

If you can’t stay focused, then that’s okay. You might feel a little frustrated at first, thinking you’re doing it wrong. But the truth is, there is no perfect way to do it. Be easy with yourself.
